If you’re looking for an amazing hike in Jordan, the hike of Wadi Mujib (also known as the River Arnon) is one of the best hikes you’ll ever trek!
It’s a truly great place to go with friends if you like hiking and staying active, and you’ll even make friends with fellow hikers along the way.
Expect to get wet, so wear some comfortable water shoes that can help you grip on climbs where needed. You can also hire a guide at the beginning of the hike, but since there are usually guides and staff located at the more difficult spots to help you, you could probably get away without hiring a guide.
This is a great, refreshing water hike, and definitely one to add to the must-do list if you’re in the Amman or Dead Sea areas (the Wadi is to the east of the Dead Sea, some 90km from Amman).
There is an entrance fee to get in to Wadi Mujib – as a tourist expect to pay around 13 JD (which also includes a compulsory life jacket).
How to get to Wadi Mujib
If you’re driving – follow the signs for Wadi Mujib Biosphere Reserve on the Dead Sea (45 minute drive from Amman) and NOT the ‘wadi mujib’ in Google Maps!
If you’re coming south, Dhiban is the last town you’ll pass through (although there’s nothing left of the city these days) before the descent into Wadi Mujib. Also watch out for the stunning lookout point, some 3km after Dhiban.
